2024 Conference Wrap Up

1–2 minutes

Our annual networking conference was held in Newcastle this year and we were thrilled to have a wonderful group of 22 women enjoyed two days of exclusive distillery tours and tastings, conference presentations and wellness days. It’s the most valuable experience for our members and is a core objective for the AWDA.

Day One: Distillery Tours
We visited the girls at Kawal Rock Distillery, had an amazing tour and long lunch Margan Wines, followed by tastings at Earp Distilling Co and dinner and drinks at Honeysuckle Hotel.

Day Two: Conference Day
Day Two was held at the beautiful Farmer’s Wife Distillery where owner Kylie gave a tour of the new distillery and tasting of her four seasons of gin.

The presentations across the day were all extremely valuable and were delivered by industry professionals with ample experience to offer.

These included:

OHS, safety and compliance – Cynthia Korff – Lead Consultant/eighteen33

Growth & route to market / Drink Strategy & Mixology – Nigel Weisbourne & Wil Thompson – Drink Industry Professionals

Branding – Chelsea Beech – Founder/ Managing Director – Beech Agency

We finished the day in style making connections over dinner and drinks at Blanca Restaurant.

Day Three: Wellness Day

Day three was an optional wellness day spent at Limestone Permaculture. We started the day with a tour of Limestone farm, followed by a Farm to Table Italian long lunch in the sun and a hands on fermentation workshop using farm fruits and flowers. Of course on the way home there was a stop off at the Farmer’s Wife distillery for farewell drinks.
